With a celebrity MC, the 2008 Fair Shake Awards party will be held this year at Falcon in Hollywood. "The Fair Shake" is created and hosted by Western Center's Advisory Board, and is always a great evening out. Individual tickets are $75, Law Firm and Corporate tickets are $100, Sponsorships range from $1000 for 8 tickets - $10,000 for 40 tickets, with profits going to support WCLP, a non-profit poverty law advocacy organization. Tickets entitle the holder to entry, one drink ticket, appetizers catered by Falcon, and music spun by a terrific DJ. There will also be a raffle for incredible prizes. Western Center is dedicated to advancing and enforcing the rights of low-income Californians to the basic necessities of life by working statewide for systemic change. Through education, negotiation and policy advocacy, WCLP works to ensure fairness and access to justice for low-income individuals. Founded in 1967, WCLP has litigated and won cases before the highest courts in the land - suits that have become landmarks for poverty law attorneys not just in California but throughout the country. In 1972, WCLP opened one of the first lobbying offices in the country dedicated exclusively to representing the interests of the poor before the Legislature, so that their hard-won legal victories would not be undone by backroom political deals. WCLP's continuing commitment to excellence helps ensure that all Californians get a "fair shake." For more
