In January of this year, California Community Colleges Chancellor, Jack Scott, announced that the state board of governors appointed 21 individuals to a Student Success Task Force to meet for 12 months and develop a strategic blueprint to help community college students to succeed. The recommendations from this committee came early and, unfortunately, recommend changes that would be detrimental to vulnerable Californians attending community college as a way to achieve economic self-sufficiency and meet federal work participation requirements. Attached are Western Center’s Comments in opposition to two of the Task Force’s recommendations. Below are links to the draft recommendations.
