The House and Senate will soon consider a proposal to amend our Constitution to require a balanced budget every year. A constitutional Balanced Budget Amendment (BBA) would threaten the U.S. economy, create serious problems for Social Security, and would likely force huge cuts in Medicare, Medicaid, the social-safety net, and other vital government programs. Western Center opposes and asks others to join in opposition.


TAKE ACTION:

Join a growing list of state-based organizations in the effort to defeat the BBA. The deadline for organizations to sign-on is Wednesday, July 13th. The letter will be delivered to all members of Congress.  Click here to read the letter and list of national signers as of July 7, 2011.
