October 1, 2010, California will implement a new benefit calculation for food stamps. Attached is an updated Food Stamp Calculator with these new budget calculations.
While there will be no change in the income guidelines or food stamp benefit allocation. However, as required by the Code of Federal Regulation 273.9 (d)(6)(iii), the California Department of Social Services (DSS) has completed it's annual review of Utility Allowances. As a result, the Standard Utility Rate and the Limited Utility Rate will both increase, to the benefit of the client.
In addition to these changes, there were two, very slight changes in the Standard Deductions for households of 1, 2 or 3 people and in the maximum excess shelter allowance used for households without an elderly or disabled household member present.
