Nominations for Fair Shake "Rock Stars" - Now Open
01/08/2010

Western Center on Law & Poverty is now accepting nominations for the 2010 Fair Shake "Rock Stars" who will be honored and celebrated at the 7th Annual Fair Shake on June 16, 2010. The Fair Shake: A Party with a Purpose is a celebration attended and supported by young professionals and advocates from throughout the region and the state.

The Fair Shake "Rock Stars" are the most vibrant and effective up-and-coming and unsung heroes who are working side by side with Western Center to secure and enforce the rights of poor people to housing, health care, and safety net assistance. They have shown talent and sensitivity in combating the injustices inflicted on poor people, including the exploitation of gender, age, ability, race, and immigrant or familial status. They are people to be noticed, celebrated and followed in years to come.

Nominees may include legal services advocates (including, but not limited to lawyers), young associates or professionals in law firms or other companies, project or program managers in community organizations, community organizers, past or current interns or fellows or volunteers, or similarly committed individuals who have who have made stellar contributions to the work of Western Center.

Please send up to three paragraphs (approximately 300 words) to Andrea Luquetta at aluquetta@wclp.org or Beth Hanneman at beth.n.hannemann@us.pwc.com describing the Nominee, the work he or she has done, and why you think he or she should be named a "Rock Star". Nominations will be accepted through the close of business on January 15, 2010.

Please forward this message broadly. (And know that being a recipient of this message does not preclude YOU from being nominated!)
