WCLP has learned that Governor Schwarzenegger will propose to eliminate the CalWORKs program as part of $5.5 billion in new cuts to the state budget. The Governor's plan would forfeit $3.7 billion in federal block grant funds and leave 1.2 million Californians with no cash assitance. The Governor is also expected to announce the elimination of Healthy Families, the elimination of CalGrants, and the elimination of adult mental heatlh services. As details emerge we will post here.
