Child Care Assistance for People Transitioning Off Welfare

WCLP won a ruling that the state must provide child care assistance to AFDC recipients in approved education or job training activities, whether or not the recipients were enrolled in the former AFDC workfare program known as GAIN. The suit helped thousands of AFDC recipients to continue in education and training programs so that they could escape the welfare rolls. Miller v. Carlson, 768 F.Supp. 1331 (N.D. Cal. 1991)
